Deuteronomy 8: 2-3

Man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

I must have lost my mind.....

Oh boy.....I think I've gotten in a little over my head this week. I decided that since my oldest son, Braeden, is turning 10 this year, we are going all out for his birthday party. In the past we have had parties for the kids, but just with family, cousins, grandparents, etc. This time I told him he could invite all of his friends and we'd throw a HUGE Star Wars party. My son is obsessed with Star Wars, which I guess is better than some of the things he could be obsessed with! He knows every character, knows every line to every movie, knows the names of all of the ships, and all the places they go, docking stations...he even knows the names of the other "R2D2" type robots which are rarely even seen. He reads books, plays the XBox games, and studies it in his spare time. I'm glad he has found something he connects with, because for years he didn't like ANYTHING.

So we are having this party a week from today (Sat. July 12), and we have it all planned out from start to finish. Each child will get to pick his or her own lightsaber upon arrival. (Lightsabers were made from cut pool noodles, which I superglued PVC pipes into the end, wrapped the pipes in black electrical tape, and then cut the other end of the noodle so it was rounded like a lightsaber...we have blue, yellow, red and orange.) Braeden will have a Jedi uniform, of course, but I couldn't afford to have uniforms for 25-30 kids. We will be having 3-4 games in which the kids can win prizes...games include "Death Star" hot potato, Star Wars Madlibs, Meteor Shower (they are showered with balloons that have been filled with treats and they get to keep the treats inside any balloon they can pop.), and Jedi/Sith freeze tag. We purchased a soccer ball pinata, and are in the process of painting it silver or gray to look like the Death Star...and that will probably be one of the last things they do before cake and ice cream.

I found an R2D2 cake pan on Ebay, and will have to make 3 cakes. I decided that since there are other similar robots, I will make one R2D2, which is blue, and the others will be red and green. I already have all the white and gray frosting and the different colored gels for decorating. We will also be having "Yoda Soda", which is a green soda punch that I got a recipe for online. My husband and I decided that we should probably feed people since the party is at 4:30, and I'm sure people will stick around after the party for volleyball if it doesn't rain. For food we are having a "Mos Eisley Coney Island" (I made signs today for that, and for the "Jedi Training Academy"), and will have a coney dog station set up under the tent.

I'm so glad that I have the lightsabers finished already because that is the most time consuming thing to make...so far. On top of this, school, sign choir, and just every day duties...I'm not sure how I will get all of this done. Pray for me, please!!!!
