So we all know that fish can be really good for us, right? Typically the fish that is the best for us is maybe a white fish like tilapia, and salmon is also really good for giving our bodies the essential fatty acids that we need. I am not fond of salmon, but I do love tilapia. Usually I will rub a tilapia fillet with olive oil, salt and pepper it and cook it on my Foreman and it is fantastic!
Ahi tuna steaks are also loaded with these good fats, and I absolutely LOVE tuna steaks! I do not recommend eating tuna more than once every other week, because even though it is loaded with fatty acids, it also contains mercury and it can be harmful if consumed too frequently.
When I prepare my tuna steaks, I make 100% sure they are cooked all the way through, because I don't think I could eat it raw. A few months ago I went with my husband and some friends to dinner at a steak house, and I ordered the ahi tuna cooked thoroughly. The waitress basically told me I was crazy and I told her that if their chef was a good one, he could do it. Sure enough....it was one of the BEST tuna steaks I've ever had!
Here is my version of a perfect tuna steak.....
Be sure to use a steak that is not ice cold, as this will cause it to be slightly tough. Rub both sides with extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper both sides and sear in a hot pan until both sides are browned to your liking. Many people would eat their tuna steaks at this point, but like I said....don't like mine raw. I will then place the steak in a glass dish, maybe add a little more olive oil, and put it in the oven at 350 for 10-15 minutes. This makes a very juicy and tender tuna steak with SO much flavor!
I have also done this with pork chops and they are almost as good!
Deuteronomy 8: 2-3
Man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
