Tuesday's Miracle

So after my last post stating my frustration over the lack of fresh organic produce....I have since discovered a local farmer's market that has conveniently set up store on the courthouse lawn here in Franklin! I'm very excited about that, but now it is just a matter of making the time to go since they are open one night a week (church nights) and on Saturday mornings when I have scheduled sign choir practice....looks like I might have to do some switching around there. :)
I've been going with several of the ladies in my church to what is called Tuesday's Miracle, also located here in Franklin. Tuesday's Miracle is wonderful, every other Tuesday a huge health food store on the north side of Indy gives all of their over stock to a local church. The church gives the food away to anyone who wants it on a first come, first served basis. The food is all natural, and there are some organics and gluten free. This past time I got so much stuff I had to give some of it away. I had two huge boxes of organic salt free potato chips, two boxes of organic corn tortillas and another box of flour tortillas, pita bread, two gallons of organic milk, rice milk, a huge box of Rice Dream bars which are delicious, 5 gluten free pizzas, two boxes of gluten free cookies, two boxes of gluten free cereal...(on top of the 4 huge bags I got last time) organic sour cream, organic cottage cheese, yogurt, several different kinds of organic protein bars, organic cereal bars, organic pop tarts, a huge bag of split peas, a bag of kidney beans, a bag of rice flour, 3 bags of raw unsalted peanuts, several boxes of organic gluten free crackers, regular organic crackers, a frozen Amy's organic meal of beans, cornbread, collard greens, and mashed sweet potatoes, 9 dozen organic eggs, some organic all natural sugar free drink mixes for the kids, a huge bag of sea salt, probably a 3 pound bag of steel cut oats, a few bags of an all natural unsalted tamari delight mix of nuts and seeds....the list really goes on and on I can't even put it all on here.
Tuesday's Miracle is AWESOME, I am very excited about it. They do not have organic produce items since they sell out of those so quickly, but this has saved us quite a bit of money on our grocery bill, especially on our gluten free foods. We have even discovered a new brand of gluten free cereal that Carson has never tried before and he loves it. Braeden and Hannah have really enjoyed some of the cereal bars, and they have all loved the 100% fruit and all natural fruit twists, since it has been so long since they have gotten the other kind of fruit snacks. This time, they are actually good for them.
So my 'frustration' from not being able to find good organic fruits and veggies has subsided quite a bit now, especially with the farmer's market starting here in town. Can't wait to see what they have!
